Days 20 and 21 Eating High on the Hog
We really enjoyed our 3 night stay near
Key Biscayne Village and in the lovely little No Name Harbor. There is no water, fuel or electricity though. Boater's Grill is the restaurant by the dinghy dock for the harbor. It is open to the locals visiting the State Park, too. We made plans to spend the afternoon at the pool with Dani and Wayne. But first Ben worked on the refrigerator that was on the blink and we installed non slip under the cockpit mats which makes me very happy. before heading to the Village via Freebee. I swam laps for about 30 minutes and a worked up quite an appetite. We were offered a ride by a new friend, Andy, in his golf cart to his favorite gourmet grocery and deli, The Golden Hog. We had a delicious supper with burgers and wraps and fresh veggies. This was a fabulous cosmopolitan deli with food products from France, Italy, Venezuela and everywhere. The extravagant cheese counter was staffed for tasting as well as the wine bar. I bought some delicious French blue cheese and sheep cheese. We chatted with the proud and entertaining owner for half an hour. Then Andy took us back to No Name after his tour of the gorgeous homes here including Richard Nixon's former place.
After an hour and half morning walk, we met up with Dani and Wayne again at the Golden Hog for a prime rib lunch. Then back to the pool for the rest of the afternoon. Tough life! Actually swimming is such good exercise to keep the ole bode fine tuned for balance when you feel the unsteady cadence on the floating platform, called a boat. Dani and Wayne got their water maker working for their imminent departure for the Bahamas. They gave us 3 five gallon plastic containers filled with their "Home-made" water. It was delicious!
